My Na’vi friend Lauren also wrote about wolves recently in her science blog, too! She also writes about how she has studied “people’s perceptions of the mental lives of animals,” and how wolves are seen as some to be a stand-in for “an embodiment of ancient and inhuman horror” and what happens when they think that. So I was really glad to read foxmeadows’ account of how the incorrect wolf-behavior beliefs got spread so widely for a bit of context.
Are we (also, who are “we”? I think I mean “american pop culture”?) more into wolves recently (also, what is “recent”)? Maybe we’ve always been really really into wolves. Maybe I can ask the internets to look for keywords in published works or something.
