I started following the FrostClick weblog, and so far I have found some gems. One of them was Just to Get a Rep, which according to its site is “[t]he first film to tell the true story of the origins of graffiti and hip-hop features exclusive interviews with New York’s legendary spray-paint pioneers and today’s leading artists from Europe and the US.”
Susan and I watched it last night, and not only was it entertaining and really interesting, it sparked a conversation between us that I felt really informed me about creative influences in our lives. If you like either graffiti or hip-hop, it is a good watch. If you are interested in emergent behavior and how media shapes minds and culture, definitely watch it!
The thing to look out for is how they are distributing it on a pay-what-you-want basis. High-quality, DRM-free video file for download. That is hot. Also, DVDs and the soundtrack are on there, so spare the bandwidth and drop what you think it is worth on them.
