Starting to take a different approach to provisioning servers. In the past I would just cram everything onto a box until it was at capacity, and then I would start a new one and start adding services to it. Then I decided to break them apart, and group software together. Over time I started looking for specific hosting options, like WPEngine for WordPress.
For the software that I host myself, I realize giving some of them their own server is a slight waste, since they never really tap into the bare minimum of VPSes these days. Now I have a launching server (or two, depending on if I need multiple web server software running), where I plop a site or service, and see how many resources it actually needs to operate.
My first one is named daymia, in line with naming all my servers after characters from the Slayers universe.
