The World Wide Web is old enough to drink

The World Wide Web is old enough to drink, at least in my part of the world. I realized this as I was reading the about page of a blog belonging to a 20 year-old. I was thinking about how the two of us see the world differently, how they were nine when we began the War on Terror. And then it struck me: the web is older than em!

Twenty-one years old. It has come a long way, and I still feel like it is just hitting its prime. I like the ideas put forth by Tim Berners-Lee, “to link and access information of various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will”. When it works like that, you can tell you’ve found something special. It is worth the effort to keep it that way.
