Webmaking 101

I am participating in the Webmaking 101 challenges. I work as a web developer, but I have very solid reasons for doing the challenges.

First of all, and I will be honest here, I want those sweet, sweet badges! While not the most important reason, it is certainly motivating to someone like me (gamer + critic of traditional education + problem solver).

Secondly, I want to see this with a beginner’s mind. I am a living repository of “best practices”, but I sometimes have difficulty articulating them because I’ve built up so many layers I forgot the original reason I do something. As with all patterns, occasional assessment can be helpful.

Finally, I have a super secret project in the works that sorta builds off the ideas of P2PU and the general “open” web. A hint: it has Webcraft in the name.

All of this is to prepare me for sharing the knowledge I have. I really want to create educational materials for folks using the web, I feel that is how I can best contribute to making it a better place. That is where I am coming from.

As part of this task I am supposed to share some info about me, but for now I will refer to my about page.
