Woke up and left the apartment pre-dawn to get rid of my old car. Ive got some family wanting to try their hand at fixing its ongoing intermittent no-crank-above-84-degrees issue; despite my warnings as to how hard much of a money pit it has allready proven to be on that one problem.
I was supposed to do this yesterday evening, as parking where we live is tightly regulated and we have atleast one set of neighbors near us who care about that sort of thing. However it was hotter than 84 degrees for a considerable chunk of the evening around here.
New car is pretty awesome seeming, but im working remotely for the next day or two and donât need groceries at the momment so im not exactly using it a whole lot. Hoping to try out its evangelian style umbilical cable tomorrow when I go to the library.
Summer schedule at the university means we can play around with our hours some as long as we are still working 40 hours every week. So ill be off work early tomorrow. Plenty of time to library. Outside of normal book stuff, I wanna quiz them about volunteering.
I get so many hours of community service leave working for the state and while I had hoped to use them phone banking for political candidates or something of the kind later this year, I was recently reminded that our legislature also codified rules that state employees cant use their community service leave for political endeavors; and the current composition of HR means im unlikely to slip past that rule.
EDIT:
I will add that historically its been pretty difficult for me to use this community service leave I get. Most of my coworkers appear to use it to volunteer for religious organizations and their are lots of arbitrary rules and administrative suspicion around using it for anything else. Im hoping library volunteering is acceptable enough to qualify.
Nobody can say anything bad about the library! Good luck.
Do you have charging at home?
Yesterday I put items on the free local group Iâm in for the first time. Today someone is picking up my snowboarding boots! Iâm excited!
Iâm at the doctorâs. I got here ten mins early! Itâs a huge improvement over twenty minutes late or missing it entirely! This medication is awesome!!!
Clover and I were bemoaning the fact we had a Topo-Chico to share, but no bottle opener. Then I remembered I had something that was neither a bottle opener nor a key, but kinda looked like both!
It comes with a level 1 charger which could plug into an AC outlet but I mostly plan on sucking up juice from various level 2 chargers at work and occasionally around town. I dont have a convenient way of plugging it in over here. Ive got no external outlets or garrage.
Whatâs the difference between levels? I assume it is charging speed? Is battery longevity affected at all by diff levels of charger?
Itâs kind of awesome that youâre able to get behind buying an electric car w/o charging at home! Itâs an encouraging sign for adoption I think! You mention several places that have charging conveniently so that must go a long way to help get more electric and plug-in hybrids on the road.
Although I guess zero of us have a gas pump in our home and thereâre buttloads of gas-drinking vehicles here so wtf am I saying. lol.
Level 1 is basically AC power and slowest. Level 2 draws a level of power comparable to electrical appliance outlets you might plug a washer or dryer into and is medium charging speed. Level 3 is fastest charging speed for EVs and nothing in your house typically draws that much power.
This is a plugin hybrid, so it only supports level 1 and level 2 charging. Level 2 chargining should top off my battery within 1-2 hours.
Yeah. The rural university I work at has installed lots of free charging which makes this possible. If that wasnât true this wouldnât make a lot of sense for me. They actually may have installed more chargers out in the middle of nowhere where I work than the small sized city I live in has total.
The city I live in is small but theyve also been funding the few chargers scattered around. I think the big trick is the gap between the two and the small towns between.
My mother for example who lives between those two end points lives in something of a charging desert so it wouldnt make sense for her.
