I am delighted and honored to say that we have one candidate that unambiguously meets our institutional and operational needs: we have decided to replace IRC with Riot/Matrix, hosted by Modular.IM.

How did they square that with the Electron app? Is the Electron app not needed any longer?

I think there are a few non electron clients around. Ive seen chatter of some qt based ones. Though I suspect the electron app is the most feature complete one. Unless things have change radically in the last six to eight months or so.

Not a big fan of Matrix honestly. But atleast it’s not discord. which is what was heavily rumored back in april.
